Hunting areas include Ajai Wildlife Reserve, Aswa-Lolim, Karamoja North and Kafu River Basin, covering some of the most pristine territories of Uganda.
Ajai Wildlife Reserve is situated in the west bank of the Albert Nile between Wadelai Fort of Emin Pasha and the hunting camp of Roosevelt, called Rhino Camp. This area in known by its healthy populations of sitatunga, Uganda kob, East African defassa waterbuck, warthogs and bushpigs. Normally, safaris in this area take place between January and April.
Aswa-Lolim Wildlife Reserve lies on the eastern side of the Nile, covering 125,000 hectares and shares a total of 110 km direct border with Murchison Falls National Park in the south and approximately 80 km with the Nile to the west. The landscape is dominated by light rolling grass hills with palm trees, small valleys with creeks and light bush. This area is well known for the outstanding quality trophies of Nile buffalo, Uganda kob, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi and warthog. Near the river, dense forests and large stretches of papyrus swamps can be found too. Safaris in these areas are conducted between January and May.
Our Karamoja concessions are stretching over 1.2 million hectares from Kidepo National Park all the way to Central Karamoja including 5 Districts (Kitgum, Agago, Kaabong, Kotido and Abim) and are rich in buffalo, Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, eastern bohor reedbuck, Chandler’s mountain reedbuck, Gunther’s dik dik, East African defassa waterbuck and warthog. Due to increased anti-poaching, lesser and greater kudu are as well spotted more frequently. Currently, our outfitter operates out of the Karenga Community Wildlife Area, Mount Zulia Forest Reserve and the former Lipan Controlled Hunting Area, a prime block for buffalo bordered by Kidepo Valley National Park and Kidepo Game Reserve.
Finally, the Kafu River Basin stretches along Lake Kyoga, Kafu & Mayanja Rivers and covers the six districts of Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Kiryandongo and Masindi, covering about 1,800,000 hectares. The landscape in Kafu consists mainly of Papyrus swamps and dense bush thickets making it a prime hunting ground for the East African sitatunga, East African bush duiker, Eastern bohor reedbuck, Nile bushbuck, Uganda defassa waterbuck, leopard, oribi and bushpig. We hunt in Kafu from January to December. This is the best concession for big Sitatunga with average trophies in the 25” range and quite a few bulls taken every year between 29” and 31”.
