1. Final Destination

Moscow or Saint Petersburg will be the two main access points to Russia. However, due to the immensity of the country and the wide spectrum of hunting possibilities, it will be necessary to get a domestic flight followed by a car transfer which will leave hunters close to the hunting areas.

5. General Comment

With a total extension larger than all the European countries combined, Russia is without any doubt one of the world’s finest hunting destinations. The country encompasses a great variety of habitats, amongst which, three different territories are differentiated. Firstly, the Russian Caucasus. Although its mountains may not be as tough as those found in Azerbaijan’s side, the scenarios are simply breathtaking. Regions such as Karachayevo-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ossetia and Dagestan are where most of our Tur and Caucasian Chamois hunts take place and that we have personally hunted for the last 25 years. In the central eastern part of the country, the vast tundra plains stretch to the grassy lands of the Volga River, meeting the Chukotka and Kamchatka regions where some of the best snow sheep and bear hunts are available. Finally, Siberia, whose region stretches from the Ural Mountains all the way to the Okhotsk Sea.

With regards to the quality standards, it is particularly important to highlight the huge cultural difference between rural Russia and western countries. This, together with the difficulty of getting to some of its areas, the language barrier and the fact that hunting in Russia is usually not cheap, compels to always put ourselves in the best hands. It is essential to rely on an internationalized ouftitter in order to avoid nasty surprises, so common in some places of Russia.

In Camino Real Hunting Consultants, we have been working with the same outfitter for over 20 years. On top of the outstanding services provided, their transparency and the results achieved by our clients, has enabled us to be continually active in Russia for many years, gaining a wide knowledge of the country and its amazing hunting possibilities. A representative of the outfitter or the owner himself will always travel with our clients during the whole hunt from the moment they meet in Moscow and will look after every detail, something really appreciated by our clients.
