Red Legged Partridge Drives
A driven red legged partridge shoot or “ojeo” is one of the most traditional and genuine Spanish ways of hunting. Considered by many as the Queen of the small game species since the late XIX Century, the red legged partridge (alectoris rufa) is characterized by its strength and fast flight, providing a real challenge in a unique environment.
At Camino Real Hunting Consultants, we offer our guests the opportunity of accessing one of the most exclusive shooting estates in Spain for red legged partridge shoots. Located 50 minutes away from Madrid and in a spectacular setting, it was in this estate where King Alfonso XIII began the traditional driven shoots at the end of the XIX Century. Since then, year after year, some of the most prestigious hunting personalities are hosted. Every shoot that we organize is bespoke, providing a unique and memorable experience to all our teams.
With many different drives, each shoot is 100% tailor-made, allowing us to always meet the requirements of our teams and ensuring the essence of the traditional “ojeo” with as much enthusiasm as we do.
Our shoots are usually arranged for teams of 4 – 8 guns with average bags of 600 birds per shooting day. Typically, a day would consist of 4 drives. After the second drive a delicious snack or “taco” is served and once the fourth drive is over, lunch will take place at the main lodge. During the shoot, each guest will have a loader and a secretary and after every drive, one will have the opportunity to experience with astonishment how the dogs retrieve the partridges.
The lodge, with charming rooms and decorated with maximum detail can accommodate up to 20 people. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the incredible views from any of its large windows. The spacious living rooms, all of which count with a beautiful fireplace, is the perfect spot where teams will be able to relax after the shoot with a glass of exquisite Spanish wine. Finally, we cannot forget about the outstanding quality of our cuisine. Guests will be able to choose from a wide variety of traditional dishes.
