Habitat
Introduced in Spain in the 50’s from Corsica and Sardinia, the mouflon has adapted very well to our ecosystem. Mouflons are mainly found on private properties within the regions of Castilla y León, Castilla la Mancha, Extremadura, Andalucía and Comunidad Valenciana, however, a large population of mouflons can be also found in certain parts of the Pyrenees.
Habits
Just as any other bovine animal, mouflons can be found during daylight. They usually live in large groups that could vary depending on the level of predation in the area. Adult males can be found in the herds. The mating season takes place at the end of October and throughout November when it is very common to see them fighting. The gestation period lasts for 5 months. In terms of food, mouflons feed on leaves, fresh buds, bark, fruit trees and crops.
