3. Accommodation

There are a total of 3 different camps within the concession, 2 of which are permanent camps. The first camp, the original one, is composed of 10 fabulous tents inspired in the typical East African style with en-suite bathrooms. The camp is set in the lush tropical sand forest which holds an amazing abundance of wildlife. The second camp was used by the Portuguese first hunters in the late 60’s and was totally renovated after 2007. This camp is built out of brick and mortar and counts with all the appropriate amenities. The third camp is situated close to the islands and swamps. Staying in this camp gives Access to one of the most abundant Buffalo places in Africa. All camps are tremendously comfortable and provide prime service.

5. General Comment

Mozambique is situated in the southeast of the African continent. The concession that we hunt, with over 2,000 sqkm, offers one of the most diverse habitats in Africa, hence providing the opportunity of still being able to do a classical African safari. Coutada 11 has 5 well differentiated type of habitats, making this area totally unique.

Located in the central part of Coastal Mozambique, the spectrum of wildlife is quite remarkable, having 21 huntable species of game from the tiny Livingstone Suni to the buffalo, including 4 of the Big 5.

It is not rare to be surprised by herds composed of hundreds of buffalos roaming through the plains. Recent counts estimated a total population of more than 24,000 individuals. Sables are also found in big herds of approximately 150 animals.

Our outfitter is the longest standing concessionaire in Mozambique and has been operating Coutada 11 since the early 90’s, being the first Official Hunting Concession in the country. Over the years and with a great future vision, sound game management and anti-poaching programs have been accomplished, contributing very positively in making of this land one of the richest in Mozambique, allowing hunters the opportunity to hunt in the most exclusive concession of this country.
