5. General Comment

Nowadays, Iran means "Land of Aryans" but referred to as “Land of Kindness” in older literature, Iran is home to one of the oldest major civilizations with historical and urban settlements dating as far back as 4,000 B.C. with the oldest written history in the world. Although attacked and ruled by Arabs, Greeks and Mongols during its long history, it never gave up its culture yet freely adopted all the valuable things from the rest of cultures. Just as prominent historian Richard Nelson once said in one of his books “Iran’s glory has always been its culture”.

The outfitter we have been working with for many years now, is a veteran within the Iranian Game Department being the most knowledgeable outfitter of the country and having hosted some of the most reputed international hunters throughout its many years of experience. The team of professionals around the company are amongst the best of the country, including off-season prescouters, guides, drivers, chefs and translators.

In terms of hunting, Iran is a paradise for any mountain hunter including 7 different species of sheep, 2 different species of ibex and 2 different species of gazelles, all of which can be found in different regions of the country. Iran is also known for its concentration of wild boars, distributed throughout the country. These are all spot and stalk hunts which take place in some of the most breathtaking mountains, except the wild boar hunts which are mostly conducted as driven hunts for teams of 8-9 guns minimum.

Upon arrival to Teheran, hunters will be welcomed by a representative of the company and will assist through the rifle clearance procedures. Hunters will then head to the hotel until next morning when they are normally transferred to the hunting area. This could be by car or by taking a domestic flight.

Individual hunts for any of the big game mountain species include 5 hunting days plus 2 traveling days. However, this will be extended proportionally depending of the number of species willing to be pursued. As these are all hunts taking place in National Reserves, with our team of prescouters thoroughly working before the hunter arrives, most of the hunts are resolved within 1-2 days, hence, this is usually more than enough time to successfully complete any hunt.

Wild boar driven hunts are also amongst the most exciting hunts in the country. This is a much more relaxing hunt aimed for those European hunters who are passionate about wild boars, as it is known for producing outstanding tuskers. Hunts take place between 4-6 hours away from Teheran and can be arranged for a minimum of 8 guns. Accommodation takes place in comfortable individual chalets with capacity for 5 guests located between 30-50 minutes away from the hunting grounds.
