2. Hunting Area

Due to the wide spectrum of hunting possibilities that Hungary offers, the hunting areas to which we have access to through our outfitter are spread all over the country and may be located between 60 and 270 kms away from Budapest. Our main hunting areas are the following:

  • Roe deer: From the province of Somogy to the south of Lake Balaton with concessions over 3,000 hectares, up to the most exclusive territories of the Great Plains stretching along the provinces of Szolnok, Békés, Hajdú-Bihar and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and including the famous vineyards of Mantra.

  • Fallow deer and mouflon sheep: We currently have three well differentiated areas where we get excellent results every season. These are Debrecen, Gyulaj which belongs to the Transdanubia region and the areas of Pilis, Gödöllö and Mátra close to Budapest. These areas produce huge trophies and for several years we have been able to harvest record fallow deer.

  • Red deer and wild boar driven hunts: In the south of Hungary, lies the most exclusive concession of the country. With approximately 72,000 hectares, it produces monster red stags, having harvested trophies over 270 CIC points. Kereki, our other area is well known for its red deer healthy population where more than 50% of the trophies shot every year are coalified as gold medals.

  • Ducks and pheasants: Most concessions are located close to the banks of the Danube River not far away from Budapest.

5. General Comment

Hungary is one of the most attractive hunting destinations in Europe, where beyond the opportunities it offers, hunting is part of their day to day. Our outfitter and partner, who we have known for more than 20 years, provide first class service, yet always prioritizing the guest’s interests.

Amongst the different options, we could point out the individual hunting for species such as wild boar, fallow deer, mouflon sheep, red deer, and roe deer, being the roe buck the one attracting more international hunters every year. Not only the trophy quality itself but the accommodation provided makes it perfect to travel along with the family. As we like saying, family that hunts together stays together! Any of these hunts are planned for a minimum of 3 hunting days, however, the hunter may extend it to his discretion.

In addition, Hungary is well known for its wild boar driver hunts, one of the most adrenaline hunts in Europe, if not the most. For this purpose, we have outstanding areas which can either be 100% free, where a team of around 10 guns should expect to shoot between 15-25 pigs per day, or fenced areas for those willing to have better results. Wild boar driven hunts contemplate between 2-5 hunting days and nothing less than 5-6 guns is recommended.

Finally, for those bird shooting enthusiasts, pheasant and duck shoots can also be arranged. This can either be walk-up hunts with dogs or driven shoots. Close to Budapest, in the banks of the Danube River our best areas are located. Any bird hunter will be shocked by the hight of these birds. Bags often range from 500 to 1,500 birds per day.
